Anti-Counterfeit Actions are legal and enforcement measures taken to prevent the production, distribution, and sale of counterfeit goods that infringe on intellectual property rights.
To counterfeit is to sell or market a non-genuine product as a genuine, counterfeiting is thus nothing but cheating a consumer and making him believe that he is buying the original branded product from the same source of manufacture as he imagines. The Indian Penal Code 1860, sets out punishments for cheating, counterfeiting and possession of instruments for making counterfeits, among other things.
