PATENT ON YOGA POSTURES
Over the years, India has pioneered and practiced yoga – which literally means the union of body and mind .It has become hugely popular in the west .It is contented that Yoga is intrinsic to Indian Spiritual Tradition where it is often used as an aid to mediation and has been practiced in this country of origin for thousand of years. An Indian-born American yoga practitioner Bikram Chaudhary, who has successfully received 134 patents on various yoga techniques — apart from 150-odd copyrights on books and pamphlets — and over 2,000 trademarks on yoga-related accessories. The Health Minister has alleged misuse of traditional knowledge.

QUALCOMM LOSES PATENT CASE TO RIVAL BROADCOM
Qualcomm Inc. was found to have illegally used Broadcom Corp technology in its handset chips and will have to pay $19.6 million in damages, according to a federal jury ruling in May. The company was found to have “willfully infringed” the patents of Broadcom. The original lawsuit was filed on May 18, 2005. Broadcom has initially claimed that five of its patents had been infringed upon. The company later dismissed one patent, the court stayed the case for a second one and the last three were related to video compression, a push – to – talk function similar to walkie –talkie, and enabling the handset to simultaneously access data and voice networks.
